01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step inside Jikaseimen Jun in Katsushika's Tateishi neighborhood, and you are greeted by an elegant lineup of noodle bowls anchored by chicken and niboshi (dried sardine) broths. A signature choice here is the jidori (local free-range chicken) ramen, offered in both shoyu (soy sauce) and shio (salt) versions. Skimmed lightly with fragrant chicken oil, the clear amber broth yields a clean, deep poultry savor that unfolds steadily, carried smoothly by firm, straight house-made thin noodles. Delicately prepared toppings—such as tender, low-temperature cooked chashu—reflect meticulous craftsmanship, leaving a lingering, satisfying finish that encourages drinking every last drop of broth.
Alongside its clear ramen broths, the shop's diverse range of tsukesoba (dipping noodles) provides another compelling reason to return. The Kamo Tsukesoba pairs thin, slippery noodles with a rich dipping broth built on Kyoto duck, jidori chicken, and Japanese dashi, enriched with minced Kyoto duck and accompanied by duck loin slices, mitsuba herb, coarsely grated daikon (oni-oroshi), and wasabi. For a refreshing option, the Chilled Niboshi Japanese Kombu Water Tsukemen rests thin house noodles in kelp-infused water, dipping them into cold Katakuchi sardine broth served alongside cuts of Iwanaka pork eye of round and Takumi Daisen chicken breast chashu. When in the mood for something bolder, the Spicy Miso Tsukesoba uses thicker noodles with a chicken broth enriched by Iwanaka pork, chives, and bean sprouts, featuring adjustable spice levels and a jidori broth top-up (soup-wari) at the end.
Arranged primarily around counter seating, the dining area offers a relaxed setting where diners can focus quietly on their bowl, whether visiting for lunch or dropping in alone after work. The menu also accommodates extra cravings with seasoned noodles (aedama), as well as beer and small snacks for those who want a quick, casual drink. Payment is in cash only, so having coins or 1,000-yen notes ready ensures a smooth ordering process.
